This excerpt is from a sermon given by Ryan Burchfield on Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Sarasota, Florida.
Isaiah prophesied in Chapter 53:2b-3 “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.”
It is surprising that the personification of God, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, is described this way. You might be asking yourself if this prophecy did indeed come true? The answer is yes. Throughout Jesus’ life he was . . . dismissed, questioned, criticized, doubted, and ultimately rejected.
This is revealed in the text of the gospels. There are many people conversing with Jesus and yet, also nearly missed loving him because of faulty expectations of who they thought he should be. Join us in our study, beginning with John the Baptist in Finding Jesus – Part 1.
