Part 2
Before going to the cross, Jesus had a Passover meal with his disciples. During that meal Jesus told his disciples, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God” (Luke 22:14-20). This meal is not only a way of honoring God but it is a window into what heaven itself will be like. We know that God is love (1 John 4:7-12). There are few things in the day-to-day lives of family members that are more unifying and useful for building love and closeness than sharing meals together. In these meals, we share what is on our minds and hear what is on the mind of those we love. It seems only natural that we should practice doing this here as we will do this perfectly in heaven. We are not in heaven yet; however, which means that we are far from perfect. This fact should also be remembered during our meals, as Jesus reminds us with his sacrifice.
